A Worthy Heart
By Susan Anne Mason
Maggie Montgomery is thrilled to finally see America and to
enjoy a summer visit with her brother and sister-in-law. Her brother Gabe is eager to learn about the
firefighting practices of the New York City firefighters, but unrest in his
beloved Ireland has tempered his excitement for the visit to America. What Maggie hasn’t shared with her brothers
is her intention to stay once summer is over.
Leaving a failed engagement behind, Maggie is determined to find
employment to support her new venture.
What neither Gabe or Maggie anticipate is that love may be coming their
way…….
A Worthy Heart is
a well-written and engaging book about the hope of the “American dream” – to
start over and to make a better life for oneself. Maggie and the other characters in the book are
likeable and easy to understand. I spent
the entire book trying to imagine a charming Irish lilt to Maggie and Gabe’s
words. I was engaged in the story from
the first chapter. I felt the end
conclusion of the book was a bit too predictable. The message seemed to be that if you
surrender your life to God everything works out just great. This may not have been the author’s
intention, but the message was there nonetheless. Overall I give this book an A-: engaging from
the start, predictable and “pretty” in the end.
I received a free copy of this book from Bethany House
Publishers in exchange for my honest review.
