The Blessed Woman - Non-fiction, Christian

The Blessed Woman
 By Debbie Morris

The Blessed Woman explores the stories of 12 different women of the Bible.  Each story highlights lessons that modern women can learn from these women of ancient times.  In the story of Eve, we can learn complete dependence on the Lord.  Mary, mother of Jesus teaches us to trust God to make us what we need to be for the task He has laid before us.  Ten other Biblical women, and a few men, help women learn lessons on confronting evil, being full of grace, and submitting to our husbands from a Biblical perspective.  Written especially for the Christian woman without a mentor, this book explores basic concepts on which every woman can base her life.

The Blessed Woman is fairly short book with some quality life lessons in its pages.  Debbie Morris takes a different perspective on the lives of some Biblical women with which I was already familiar.  The material made me think about how I can apply the different lessons to my own life.  I especially enjoyed the chapter on Biblical submission.  I thought the author did an excellent job of explaining how and why women should submit to their husbands.  Bible study material for each chapter is included in the back of the book.  Overall I give this book a B: okay read - might be better in a Bible study setting.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher through www.bloggingforbooks.com in exchange for my honest review.
