Love in Disguise - Fiction, Historical

Love in Disguise
By Carol Cox

Ellie Moore’s “secure” job as personal assistant to an actress disappears overnight, as her mistress leaves Ellie behind for the spotlight of Europe.  Left alone in the middle of Chicago and winter with a trunk of costumes and barely enough money to pay her rent, Ellie decides she’ll do just about anything for work.  What she didn’t expect was that she would be using her knowledge of theater to secure an undercover job with the Pinkertons: find out who is stealing silver shipments from mines in Pickford, Arizona.  Disguised as a widow – Lavinia - looking for investment opportunities, Ellie sets out to find the culprit.  But, Ellie soon discovers that a vivacious red-head is much better at getting people to talk than a widow – enter Ellie’s alter ego, Jessie.  Can Ellie maintain both characters without discovery and still catch the culprit?  And will “Jessie” steal Ellie’s chance at true love when the man discovers the truth?

Love in Disguise was a well written, fun read.  The twists and turns of the story kept me engaged and entertained from beginning to end.  I love that Ellie struggles to find faith in God, when all along God is ordering the events of her life – so like us many times!  This book will keep you guessing from beginning to end “whodunit!?!”.  I enjoyed reading this book and it was good enough to pass along to a friend.  I’m giving it an A – good read.  Finish your summer with something fun!

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
